Your Weekly Guide to Luxury

July 2015

The English town of Bath gets a new luxury hotel this month with the Gainsborough Bath Spa, named for one of the area’s most prominent 18th-century residents, the painter Thomas Gainsborough. As the name suggests, the property’s chief draw is its spa, which gives guests direct access to Bath's famous hot springs and geothermal mineral waters as well as thermal pools, saunas, and aromatherapies. Housed in a 19th-century building, the hotel’s interior design—carried out by Champalimaud—pays homage to the area's Georgian heyday with two-poster beds, murals depicting scenes from life in Bath, and marble bathrooms.
