Robert Redford's Sundance Resort is a pristine, 6,000-acre wilderness preserve nestled at the base of Mount Timpanogos. Champalimaud was commissioned to infuse life into a residential enclave for important supporters of this year-round recreational and artistic community.
Champalimaud's design team drew inspiration from the surrounding rustic wilderness to design residences using locally sourced materials, including work of local artisans supported by Sundance. Every effort was made to minimize the impact on the site, a breathtaking, wilderness ridgeline. The design celebrates natural light and frames unobstructed vistas of Mt. Timpanogoa and Sundance Village. Long, vaulted volumes contain the living, dining, and kitchen spaces, and a wood and glass bridge suspended in the 40-foot-high glass entry connects the two wings of each home.
